The problem

Company knowledge is spread across Google Drive, OneDrive, email attachments, WhatsApp exports and personal laptops. People ask on chat where a policy or a signed agreement is, or recreate documents that already exist.

Duct started inside Tensflare. While building our products, we lost too many hours hunting for the right version of a document across drives and laptops, so we built the search we wanted: fast, private, and always showing where it found the answer.

What Duct does

  • Watches synced Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox folders, so the cloud storage you already use is searchable today.
  • Reads almost every office format, including email and ZIP archives, and shows the page of each match.
  • A team server gives everyone one shared search, with admin and member access.

How it works for team knowledge base

  1. 1

Point Duct at your synced folders

Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and shared folders on your laptop. Duct reads them where they are and keeps up as files change.

  2. 2

Search across all of it at once

Policies, signed agreements, decks, spreadsheets and the attachments buried in exported email.

  3. 3

    Open the right page

Every result names the file and page. One click opens it there.

Made for this work

The parts of Duct you’ll use most.

Your cloud folders, already searchable

Duct watches the folders your Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox apps sync to your computer. New and changed files are indexed in the background, and deleted ones drop out.

Email and attachments in one search

Saved emails (.eml and Outlook .msg) are read with their attachments, so the signed PDF sent in a thread last March turns up like any other file.

One shared search for the team

Run Duct on a small office server and everyone searches the same archive from their browser. Admins manage settings and folders; members search, open and add files.

WhatsApp chats, searchable

Export a chat with its media and add it. Every file in it is labelled with who sent it and when, so the signed agreement from last March turns up like any other document.

Results follow each file’s sharing

On a team server with sign-in, people only find what they could open in Google Drive or SharePoint. A salary review shared with HR stays with HR.

Reads the files you already have

No converting, no uploading. Duct reads 99 file types where they are.

Search you can verify

Every result names the file and the page it came from, and opens the document there with your words highlighted. Your documents stay on your computer or your own server.

Questions

Does Duct connect to Google Drive directly?

Yes, on the Team plan: Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint sites and S3 buckets, read directly and read-only. On any plan, Duct also reads the folders the Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox apps sync to your computer.

Can everyone on the team use it?

Yes. Run Duct as a server on your network or in your cloud, and people sign in with Google Workspace, Microsoft or Okta. Members search and add files; admins change settings.

Will people find files they shouldn’t see?

Not from Drive or Microsoft 365: with sign-in, each person only finds what they could open at the source, and files shared only by link don’t count. Watched folders are searchable by everyone on the server, so watch only folders the whole team may read.

Does Tensflare see our documents?

No. Duct reads and searches them on your own machines.
